Allow us to introduce another piece of equipment from TEC Container‘ varied ‘armoury’: the fork attachment for spreaders. Although its purpose is deceptively simple, it is extremely practical, as it can lift solid, heavy cargo that slings or hooks cannot handle. Examples include marble, granite, steel slabs, concrete blocks, machinery parts and large crates used in industrial projects.
The design is elegantly functional. Two sturdy steel arms extend like the tines of a giant fork and are mounted to a custom frame that locks securely into the twistlocks of a container spreader. Once fitted, the spreader itself becomes a versatile lifting tool. The forks slide beneath the load, allowing them to distributing its weight evenly to prevent slippage or damage. Operators can adjust the width of the forks to match the cargo’s dimensions, ensuring stability when handling items such as narrow stone blocks or wide metal plates.
The photos were taken at Namibian Ports Authority – Namport, which manages two of southern Africa’s most strategic maritime gateways: Walvis Bay and Lüderitz. Walvis Bay is the country’s main deep-water port, connecting Namibia to regional trade corridors reaching Zambia, Botswana and southern parts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.. Lüderitz is smaller, yet still plays a vital role in supporting the southern region’s fishing and mining industries. Both ports have been steadily modernising, combining efficiency with innovation — and we are proud to have played a small part in that transformation.
