The greenest way for ports to contribute reducing shipping industry emissions

Reducing Shipping Emissions for Healthier Port Communities

Our aim is to improve the health and the lives of port communities by improving the air and reducing the noise of terminals. We want to reduce the carbon footprint of ports maintaining full operations.

To do so, TEC Container has different cold ironing solutions. Our OPS can be fixed or mobile and we are used to work with both high and low tension in order to meet different ports requirements and vessels needs. All our cold ironing products are designed according to the international connection standard (ISO/IEC/IEEC 80005).

On Shore Power Advantages

reloj

Rapid development in ports

Ports all over the world, especially within the EU, are investing in shoreside power.

mano

Reduced port tariffs

Many ports offer an environmental discount on the port tariff when a shore power system is installed.

rueda

Low maintenance costs

Reducing the hours of use of auxiliary generators.

Achieving the sustainability

We strongly believe that the adoption of shore power equipment is a critical step towards achieving the sustainability and have a positive impact on the local communities. We encourage other ports to follow suit and invest in this technology, which enables docked vessels to plug into the local power grid rather than relying on their own diesel generators. Using shore power, ships can significantly reduce their emissions and noise pollution, making the port a cleaner and quieter place.

As more ports adopt shore power, we envision a future where the majority of berthed vessels will not pollute our harbors or city ports. This will not only have a positive impact on the environment but also on the health and well-being of local residents. We are optimistic that this transformation will happen sooner rather than later, as more and more ports recognize the benefits of sustainable practices and take action to reduce.

A European Green Deal

Both the European Commission and the European Alternative Fuels Observatory urge the use of this kind of technology. In fact, it is within the six priorities of the commission for 2019-2024 (Specifically in his “A European Green Deal, striving to be the first climate-neutral continent”).

One of the reasons to implement Alternative Maritime Power in ports as fast as possible is the Commission´s estimate that states: "Transport by inland waterways and short sea shipping will increase by 25% by 2030".
