#01
Engineering and Customization
Do you adapt equipment to our type of terminal?
Yes. TEC Container stands out precisely for its ability to adapt and customize equipment to the specific needs of each port terminal, regardless of the crane type or operating model used. Their design philosophy is based on customization, as they understand that no two ports are the same.
- Adaptation to any type of crane and cargo: especially spreaders, OHFs and safety cages are designed to integrate with the terminalās existing machinery.
- Tailor-made solutions: TEC Container does not only sell catalogue products; their engineering team modifies designs according to factors such as:
- ⢠Non-standard cargo: If you handle goods with critical dimensions or unusual geometries (such as wind components or pipes).
- ⢠Height or weight restrictions: They adapt the WLL (Working Load Limit) and equipment dimensions to comply with the physical limitations of your cranes or facilities.
- ⢠Environmental conditions: Special treatments for extreme climates or highly corrosive environments.
What data do you need to design a solution?
For TEC Containerās engineering team to design an efficient tailor-made handling solution, they require a series of critical technical data. The more detailed the information, the more accurate the technical and commercial proposal will be.
- Cargo Specifications
- ⢠Type of cargo: Containers (standard, open top, flat rack), industrial parts, machinery, wind components, pipes, etc.
- ⢠Dimensions: Length, width and height.
- ⢠Weight (WLL): Maximum load weight and, very importantly, the location of the centre of gravity (if asymmetrical).
- ⢠Lifting points: Where can the load be attached?
- Available Equipment
- ⢠Type of crane: STS (Ship-to-Shore), RTG, RMG, mobile harbour crane or overhead crane.
- ⢠Ground equipment: Reach Stacker, forklift or Straddle Carrier.
- Other Factors
- ⢠Duty cycles: How frequently will the equipment be used? (Intensive terminal use vs occasional use).
- ⢠Electrical/hydraulic supply: Can the crane provide power to the equipment or does it need to be autonomous (battery powered or with its own hydraulic power pack)?
- ⢠Local regulations: Although TEC complies with international standards (ISO, CE, ASME), it is important to mention if the port has specific safety rules.
- ⢠Space limitations: Maximum height available below the hook or narrow warehouse aisles.
- ⢠Climatic conditions: Extreme temperatures (desert heat or arctic cold), humidity levels or highly saline/corrosive environments.
Do you work with customer specifications?
Absolutely. In fact, designing under customer specifications (what in engineering we call Tailor-Made Solutions) is at the core of TEC Containerās business. Unlike other manufacturers that only offer closed catalogue products, TEC operates practically as an on-demand engineering office. They work with your specifications in the following ways:
- Adaptation to Local Regulations
- Integration with Existing Machinery Fleet
- Functional Customization in areas such as Safety Systems, Power Sources, Colours and Branding.

Safety and Certifications
What certifications do your equipment comply with?
TEC Container equipment complies with a wide range of international certifications that guarantee safety and reliability in critical environments such as ports and terminals:
- CE Marking and European Regulations
- All lifting equipment (spreaders, over-height frames, lifting beams, etc.) complies with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
- Important note regarding Safety Cages: Personnel cages (lashing cages) are technically excluded from the Machinery Directive (as they are not machines themselves), but TEC issues its own Certificate of Conformity and designs them under specific safety regulations for working at height.
- ISO Standards (Management and Environment)
- ⢠The company operates under internationally audited management standards.
- ⢠ISO 9001: Quality Management System certification for design, manufacturing and commercialization.
- ⢠ISO 14001: Environmental Management certification, reflecting its commitment to sustainability.
- Classification Societies (Type Approvals)
- Many of their critical equipment units have Type Approval from the worldās leading classification societies. This means the design has been validated to withstand the most demanding loads and marine conditions. They usually work with:
- ⢠Bureau Veritas
- ⢠Lloydās Register
- ⢠DNV
- Welding and Material Certifications
- ⢠As they manufacture steel structures subjected to heavy loads, they have:
- ⢠Certified welders: All welders undergo annual tests supervised by accredited inspectors.
- ⢠Traceability: Certificates for materials (steel) and components (such as twistlocks or chains) ensuring the origin and quality of each part.
Do you comply with European / international regulations?
TEC Container equipment is manufactured under strict compliance with European regulations and the most demanding international standards in the port sector. It is worth noting that, in critical designs such as safety cages, TEC Container applies resistance factors exceeding legal requirements, ensuring superior safety in intensive operations.
Do you include technical documentation and testing?
Of course. When TEC delivers equipment, the following documentation is provided:
⢠CE Marking and Declaration of Conformity.
⢠Load Test Certificate: Performed on in-house test benches.
⢠Welding Certification: Ultrasonic or magnetic particle testing (NDT) to ensure there are no internal cracks.
⢠Operation and Maintenance Manual: Clear instructions for safe use.
⢠CE Marking and Declaration of Conformity.
⢠Material Traceability: Quality certificates for the steel used.

Lead Times and Delivery
How long does it take to develop custom equipment?
Depending on the complexity of the project and the level of customization required, TEC Container may need between 12 and 20 weeks to design, manufacture, certify and deliver the final product.
Do you offer international delivery?
Absolutely. TEC Container has exported approximately 80% of its production to around 115 countries over the last decade. Their equipment operates in terminals across all five continents, from major European ports to emerging markets in Africa, Central America and Southeast Asia.
In addition, to guarantee local support, TEC has strategic partners and regional offices not only in Europe, but also in Australia and Asia-Pacific, North America, Brazil, and more.
We handle transport by managing shipment of our equipment, commissioning, and of course we provide after-sales services with access to Original TEC spare parts worldwide.
How do you manage logistics?
TEC has a department exclusively dedicated to logistics. Its mission is to ensure distance is never a barrier, as 80% of production is exported from its headquarters in Madrid to more than 115 countries.
⢠Whenever possible, our designs are modular to facilitate operations.
⢠Whenever possible, our designs allow loading inside a container to reduce costs for our customers.
⢠TECās operations department manages the bureaucratic complexity of international trade.
⢠We also handle customs documentation and shipment tracking.

After-Sales
Do you offer technical support and after-sales service?
The short answer is yes. TEC offers a complete support ecosystem that goes beyond a simple warranty.
⢠Specialized Technical Support including installation advice, training and remote diagnostics whenever possible.
⢠After-Sales and Maintenance Service, preventive maintenance and factory repairs.
⢠Warehouse with 24-hour response time for spare parts included in maintenance kits.
⢠Maintenance or inspections?
For equipment as critical as spreaders, lifting beams or safety cages, their support protocol is very rigorous:
- Mandatory Inspections and Reviews:
- ⢠First inspection: They recommend carrying out the first technical inspection 2 years after delivery.
- ⢠Types of tests: They perform visual inspections and load tests, as well as more advanced testing such as magnetic particle and ultrasonic inspections.
- Maintenance and Life Cycle:
- ⢠Preventive Maintenance: Scheduled visits to ensure locking mechanisms (twistlocks) and hydraulic or electrical systems operate perfectly.
- ⢠Original Spare Parts: Guaranteed supply of parts within 24 hours.
Do you offer Training for operators?
TEC can provide training for operators who will use TEC machinery, as well as for terminal maintenance and operations teams. These training courses are especially important for safety cages and electric OHFs. TEC sends its training team worldwide.
