As ports across Europe accelerate decarbonisation plans, cruise terminals face a complex operational challenge: supplying clean electrical power to vessels while docked without disrupting port activity.
At the Port of Cádiz, the objective was clear—deploy Spain’s first On-shore Power Supply (OPS) system for cruise ships, allowing vessels to switch off auxiliary diesel engines during port stays. The challenge required a safe, flexible and reliable way to connect high-voltage shore power to ships of different sizes under real berthing conditions, including tidal movement and changing vessel positions.
The solution
TEC CONTAINER, through its specialist division TEC Shore Power, supplied an advanced mobile Cable Management System (CMS) engineered to manage the critical final stage of the shore-to-ship electrical connection.
The system was designed to operate efficiently in a demanding marine environment while ensuring maximum safety and manoeuvrability.
