In the midst of the Covid19 crisis, Chantiers de l’Atlantique has granted TEC Container a new order for hatches for the A35 series of new buildings and an option for the series B35.

These ships, commissioned by the Miami-based shipping line Royal Caribbean, belong to the “Oasis” class of cruise ships. The new component of the fleet will be baptized as “Wonder of the Seas” when it is delivered by the French shipyard at the end of 2021 and, from that moment on, it will be the largest cruise ship in the world with a length of 362 meters.

This order and the option of order for one more new building for delivery in 2023, are signs that the already mature cruise industry continues growing at a good rate as shown in the following graph. Thus, from 2009 to 2019 there is a 70% growth in the number of passengers boarded, from 17,8 to 30 million.

TEC Container entered the cruise industry as a designer, manufacturer and certifier of deck equipment and fire-resistant escape hatches. Among the deck equipment are the panama chocks, recessed and double bollards, rollers and fairleads. Our clients are basically the following types: shipyards for commercial vessels such as Chantiers de l’Atlantique, Meyer Turku in Finland, Meyer Werft in Germany and DSME South Korea, and, shipyards for military vessels such as DCNS in France and Navantia in Spain
